About me
Sauwestari is an exciting new Greenlandic reggae band that has taken the music scene by storm with their debut album "Sauwestari," released on May 26, 2023. The band was formed with a clear purpose: to bring positive energy, love, respect, and environmental awareness to their audience through their music. Currently, the band is one of the most played names on the Greenlandic music scene and has already won the KODA award for their music.
The "Sauwestari" album was written and produced by Fabrizio Barzanti and mixed and mastered by the renowned producer and musician Pharfar. The music stands out with energetic drums from Jonas Nilsson, vocals, poetic rhymes, and a fusion of reggae and modern influences, creating a unique and fresh sound. The lyrics, sung by Paaliit Mølgaard are written by Minik Hansen, and also the writer of his own raps Pilutaq Lundblad, carry messages of environmental sustainability and a love for life, while guest appearances from Danish rappers like Pede B and Asger B add an extra layer to the music.
The name "Sauwestari" has a hidden meaning that ties back to reggae's country of origin, Jamaica. Reggae has always been loved in Greenland, but Sauwestari aims to bring this genre closer to the daily music scene in the country.
With their debut album "Sauwestari," the band has made a significant impact on the reggae scene, inspiring a new generation of musicians and music lovers. When playing live they deliver an energetic performance with over 10 people on stage.
